as reported by Sean...

OCT 2008

10/20 - "Anime Eyes" is featured on MTV Networks' The N Channel. Check it out (Channel 137 in NYC if you have Time-Warner), it seems to be getting a fair amount of airplay at least today - it's kind of a montage-y commercial for the channel itself, somewhat similar to one of HBO's commercials they run with a cool song and clips/quotes from their various shows. Sweet! Also, big show this Thursday at Le Royale with Walter Meego and our friends the Picture. Details on our calendar page.

SEP 2008

9/19 - Been crazy busy lately, as evidenced by not writing on this thing for over two months. We've played two shows with Alexa so far, and things are going great. We played a very fun show at Mercury Lounge earlier this month, opening for Bear Hands and Boy Crisis - the night was put on by Friction NYC.

Coming up on Wed 10/1, we've got another cool opening spot at Mercury Lounge, for The XYZ Affair - BBB @ 9pm, XYZ @ 10pm. Also Brian Bonz @ 7pm and Home Video @ 8pm.

Lastly, and perhaps the coolest of all - we're opening for Walter Meego at Le Royale for CMJ. More details to come.

JULY 2008

7/1 - our last Mercury show was an amazing night - thanks so much to everyone who came out to say goodbye to Sarah (and rock, of course).

So, many folks have asked what will happen next - well, we have a great new keyboardist named Alexa. Some updated pics on Myspace and Facebook are up of the 'new' BBB. More to come soon. Alexa comes to us with a lot of experience playing in bands and classical piano training - and we're really pumped to get the show on the road with her. Equally exciting is that Sarah donated her Microkorg to the project - so now we will have THREE (count 'em) totally sweet mini synthesizers on stage!

Our first show with Alexa will be on Friday, July 25th @ Crash Mansion. Details to come soon!

JUNE 2008

6/15 - some updates...

This Saturday is Sarah Lee's last show with us - very sad. Mercury Lounge, 10:30pm, Sat 6/21 - opening for Baby Dayliner. $10.

Review in Pop Matters - "This is a concept EP that follows the day in the life of a working 20something in New York City. And it's really, really good." Full Article

Mention in The Deli NYC - "Blip Blip Bleep creates euphoric, catching songs with a twinge of kitsch but bring youthful references that make them relevant in this day and age without the pains of nostalgia."

MAY 2008

5/17 - thanks to everyone who came out to the Delancey last night! Sorry they cut us short, apparently they booked an additional band to the bill without telling anyone and were running late, so rushed us all through. Lame! Our next show - Saturday, June 21st at Mercury Lounge - BBB @ 10:30p, opening for Baby Dayliner. Our biggest show ever, primetime on a Saturday at Mercury! Hope you can make it :)

5/5 - Update long overdue. CD release show was completely overwhelming and an amazing experience, thanks to everyone who came out! We had the honor of playing at Princeton University and WPI the weekend before, which was a blast and also great stage time to get ready for the CD release show.

Loneley Reviewer gave us a very nice write up, and Loho 10002 also mentioned our release show!

Next show is on Friday 5/16 @ The Delancey, with Nao's Superfortress, The Picture and The Diggs. 2 for 1 drinks from 9-10pm and from midnight to 1am. Hope you can make it!

- Napster
- Rhapsody

MARCH 2008

3/30 - posted up new tracks from the EP - Human and Okay Lover - on Myspace.com. Got a review from Radio DePaul on the new EP.

3/15 - this was an eventful week - music blogger PopHeadwound wrote a very kind review of the new EP, nice! Read. Oliver from Ash Avenue productions put together a totally sweet "making of" documentary thing on the EP. Watch video. Posted up samples of each song from the EP on the player below. Also, posted up two full tracks on Myspace. Enjoy!

3/8 - New website is up! I've been planning to do build a new one awhile, and especially with the EP coming out soon, it made sense. Took the album art that Radis did for the new EP. Basically re-skinned the site, and made some improvements from the previous version - bigger viewing panes, better navigation, added a store using ccnow, an mp3 player, new photos by Jen Maler, videos, and more.

3/5 - Finally feels like the EP release process is coming to a close. Got all the materials out to IODA for digital release earlier this month, and scheduled the official release for 4/8. MP3s will be available at all digital stores, physical CD's here at our store, Insound, and CD Baby. Scheduled some press/promotion to coincide with the release.

Still working out a date for a release party with Mercury Lounge - it's looking like a Fri late April, but still need to lock it down. Genuinely cannot wait to get the show back on the road.

FEBRUARY 2008

2/2 - Mastered the new EP with Nathan James

Trying to get some press for it to help support the release.

2/17 - Trying to work out a March/April release party at Mercury. Also planning to start rehearsing with Sarah again to get things ready for the release. Been listening to the masters non stop, they sound really great.

Got the final design files yesterday from Radis for the album art. Looks AWESOME. Sending the package out to Discmakers ASAP.

Working with Dave to get things ready for IODA/digital release too. Also thanks to Dave, booked a show at Princeton University right around the EP release.

JANUARY 2008

1/2 - Still spending a ton of time producing tracks for the new EP - got some initial feedback and completely overhauled Street Lights, rewrote Okay Lover vocals, added new parts for Ctrl. Still editting/cleaning things up too - trying to get everything ready for Nic Hard to come by, so he can just get right to mixing.

1/13 - Nic was here for a long weekend of mixing at my place. He does this every day - but man 3 straight 12 hour days is a ton of work.

1/19 - Oliver Chow is at my place this weekend filming/interviewing Brett, Sarah and me for a little "making of" documentary on the new record. Psyched to see how it comes out - I mumble like crazy!.

- Got the Jen Maler pics from December - came out really nice.

===============================

DECEMBER 2007

12/1 - We're doing a show at Mercury Lounge on Friday, December 7th. We're on at 8:15pm for a warm clothing drive, with a great line up of NYC indie acts. It's also my bday! $12 admission, $6 with a donation (coat or warm sweater). Hope you can make it! After this, we're taking a break to work on a new EP Details.

12/16 - Doing drum sessions for the new EP - and Jen Maler is coming by to take some promo shots (she was also at the 12/7 Merc show), all getting ready for the new EP.

12/26 - Taking this week off of work to start working on the new EP - Alarm Clock, Snooze Bar, Get Up. Psyched to get something new out - shooting for a March release.

===============================

NOVEMBER 2007 - Planning a new EP - trying to figure out the songs, looking back through songs I've written in the last year that went over well live.

- Rehearsing for a show at Mercury in December.

===============================

Sprint update: we got 2nd place, by 3%. Haha, oh well - the band that won is totally awesome though: The Silent Years.

===============================

JULY 2007

- UPDATE: We're finalists in the Sprint Buzz Band Challenge! You can view our intro video here, and we'll be posting up videos for the next round (full-length live songs from our show at Mercury Lounge on 5/5).

Round two is from 7/2 - 7/18, so please continue to vote for us! ALL Sprint customers can text "blip" to 5678, or if you have Sprint TV you can vote by watching our video on Channel 35 (every view is a vote).

Here is the official synopsis for the event:

"The Buzz Band Challenge, exclusively on Sprint Power View, follows 5 up and coming bands from around the country as they take their shot at the big time. The Challenge is broken up into 3 phases. Phase 1 begins on June 11th, when we'll meet the bands and get a feel for their music and personality. By accessing the bands' folders on their phones, Sprint customers will be casting a vote for the band. The more 'hits' a band's folder gets, the more 'votes' they get. Phase 1 will last for 3 weeks. At the end of the the 3 weeks, the votes will be tallied and the top 3 bands will continue to the next phase. Phase 2 will consist of the top 3 remaining bands, with featured performance footage posted onto the phone for all Sprint customers to vote on. After 3 more weeks of voting, the band with the most hits will be declared the Buzz Band Challenge winner and provided with the opportunity to play a large venue, with full lighting and sound rigs, filled with their fans. The winning band's concert will then be shown in its entirety on Sprint Power View."

APRIL 2007

4/25 - We are playing at Mercury Lounge on Saturday, May 5 (aka Cinco de Mayo!) - an early set, at 7pm. Come celebrate Mexico's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in style. Ok, I looked that up on Wikipedia, but c'mon out, drink, dance and rock with us! We're playing a spankin' new song called "Fuhreak You Out" - check it out at our shiny new Virb.com profile! - Sean

4/14 - Updated site! Improved layout, Press area added - which includes a recent interview/review featured on Fearless Radio. Here's an excerpt:

"I, like anyone picking up new music, want to listen and be impressed, and in the first moments of Blip Blip Bleep's Wireless, I was. Wireless pulls the listener in almost immediately and doesn't let go until the last chords of the last song, leaving you anxiously awaiting more."

MARCH 2007

Update long overdue. We're headlining at the Annex THIS Sat, 3/31 @ 9:45pm. Two new songs (hear one on MySpace - 5th song down), and a new band "member".

We've received some great EP reviews! Press page coming soon... for now, read excerpts on MySpace, or download snazzy PDF's here:

"A Little While Longer" is featured on CompilAsian, the debut release from new Asian-American Label Born In Chinese. Some great artists - check it out!

===============================

FEBRUARY 2007

- Our Mercury Lounge show this Sunday (2/25) is no longer sold out! Ted Leo (billed as the Sons of Cain) was going to headline, so the tix sold out. Unfortunately, he got real sick and had to cancel - assuming that some folks who had tix just to see him will not show, they're making more tix available at the door. So, if you're not into the Oscars, come on by!

===============================

JANUARY 2007

11/05 - A lot is happening! Played a really fun set at the PureVolume CMJ Loft, thanks to all who were there. Signed an agreement with Orchard Music to have them pitch "A Little While Longer" to some clients to potentially be in a movie soundtrack. Hoping for the best there. Insound.com agreed to carry Wireless - it should be available by mid-week.

===============================

OCTOBER 2007

We are confirmed for a slot at the PureVolume CMJ Loft Party! It's an industry-only event, but we're excited to get some exposure.

10/8 - Well, a large part of my weekend was consumed by putting up this site and my brain is now melting from computer-staring and being hungover. I took the design that Radis Jensethewat did for the album cover on the upcoming record, and modified it for this site. Have a look around, hope you like what you see! - Sean
